Dear Customer,
“Helau”, “Alaaf” & “Narri”,
Essen-tially.com welcomes you to Narrenzeit (the foolish or 5th season) Karneval is here again!
Whether you call it Carnival, Fasching or Fastnacht, it is a time for revelry, humour, satire and fun. In the foolish season we can all become Jesters and truly show our British friends the joys of German humour so let the festivities commence.
To help you to really get into the true spirit of fun we can deliver to you the authentic, classic drinks of Karneval. So come and get your Feilglinge, Babalou, Pflaeumchen, Caipirinha, Cappuccino (fun shots), beers , wines and some savoury meals with sausages and the famous krauts, let’s introduce our British chums to some real drinks German style!
So why is Carnival, Fasching or Fastnacht different?
Whilst Fasching and Fastnacht share the same idea, only locally it is called one or the other. The fools of the Karneval want to be merry and enjoy the last three days before Lent in an exuberant, boisterous and frolicsome manner. On the other hand the fools of Fasching/Fastnacht tend to have wooden masks as part of their disguise ... and used to think the more they jumped around and made noise, the more they would scare away the evil spirits of winter.
But one of the things both Fasching/ Fastnacht and Karneval have in common is that they are both very loud and raucous.
Enjoy - Hellau and Alaaf !
